CAPE TOWN-BASED Win-Pak recently invested in ROTOCON’s ECOLINE flatbed silkscreen press to help improve capacity in its value-addition label finishing department and ensure customers’ demands are met timeously.

Since deciding to enter the label market, Win-Pak has experienced tremendous growth and positive feedback from the market.

In 2018, Win-Pak invested in an HP Indigo 6R press, a ROTOCON ECOLINE RSI 330 slitter rewinder, with an integrated E+L SmartScan inspection unit, as well as two digital finishing machines from ROTOCON’s pre-owned equipment division with the associated turnkey project service.

‘This diversification is an example of how we are constantly looking for new ways to meet customers’ needs and expectations,’ comments owner Anthony Pearse.

According to him, the support and service received from ROTOCON since the beginning of Win-Pak’s label market venture has made the journey much easier. ‘With the previous investments we’ve made with ROTOCON, it became clear that we were not only investing in reliable machinery, but also the support and after-sales service from the team of locally-based technicians. This forms a very important part of ensuring things run smoothly and prevents downtime issues.’

After investing in the second HP Indigo Press, a bottleneck was created in the value-adding department. Anthony comments that the latest investment, an ECOLINE flatbed silkscreen press, will ensure that lead times are reduced and no bottlenecks are present in the value-added department.

‘With the increasing demand for labels, we needed to add capacity. This press represented the ideal solution as it is cost effective, reliable and robust,’ he asserts.

ROTOCON director Pascal Aengenvoort adds that Anthony was so impressed with the quality of the machine after seeing it in action that he placed an order and the press was installed in March. ‘This high-performing yet low-cost silkscreen press has provided Win-Pak with the perfect solution to its need for increasing capacity and decreasing lead times,’ he explains.

Anthony confirms the press has reduced lead times. ‘Win-Pak is a customer service oriented company and our customers shouldn’t have to wait two weeks for their labels.’

Pascal adds that the press is user-friendly due to its easy operation features and holds perfect registration. Anthony agrees that its simplicity enabled the operators to get used to it within three days.

When looking at the next step for Win-Pak, Anthony explains that the focus will shift from investing in machinery to investing in personnel. ‘At this stage, we’re satisfied with our equipment and think it’s important to also invest in people as the two go hand-in-hand in ensuring the company’s continued growth and success,’ he concludes.
