DIES drive precision in label and packaging production where sharpness and accuracy can make or break a run. Yet they’re often overlooked until problems arise. ROTOCON has long championed the philosophy that proper die maintenance is both an operational necessity and a competitive advantage.

‘All too often, companies underestimate the complexity of die manufacturing,’ says Allan Musakwa, head of sales and customer services, who also oversees ROTOCON’s die management training programme. ‘Maximising the lifespan of dies requires a deep understanding of their intricacies. Our training modules equip operators with the knowledge to handle tooling with care and precision.’

This commitment to education underpins ROTOCON’s die management course, which gives operators the skills needed to protect their investment. By focusing on hands-on learning, the company empowers teams to make smarter decisions on the shop floor – extending the working life of dies, reducing downtime and driving efficiency.

Training, however, is not limited to customers. ROTOCON’s own technicians undergo rigorous local and international programmes, covering everything from sharpening to CNC programming. ‘As well as servicing equipment, our team understands the science behind die manufacturing, which means they can offer tailored solutions that fit each customer’s unique requirements,’ Allan comments.

Customer partnerships form another cornerstone of ROTOCON’s philosophy. Julius Matharia, head of the die reconditioning department, is blunt: ‘Our role extends beyond selling dies – we forge partnerships. That means round-theclock support to ensure our customers achieve optimal performance and productivity.’

And while technology often steals the limelight, ROTOCON’s logistics and sales expert, Lesley Abrahams, reminds converters that success begins at the specification stage. ‘Customers often overlook the importance of tailored solutions. But investing in the right die upfront can lead to substantial cost savings in the long run.’
