BECAUSE OF THE increased need for essential service packaging, Innovation Shrink & Wrap (ISW) purchased an ECOLINE RDS 340 die cutting, slitting/rewinding finishing machine during national lockdown level 5. ISW was founded in 2011 to service a growing demand for flexible packaging. The company has since grown to be one of the leading narrow web flexographic printers in South Africa.

ISW was already servicing pressure sensitive clients before the coronavirus pandemic hit but things changed when the country went on lockdown as the demand for essential products surged. ISW geared up with ROTOCON’s ECOLINE RDS 340 die cutter, slitter/rewinder. “We invested in this finishing machine because we wanted to be more efficient in fulfilling the ever-changing needs of our clients, especially during this time,” says Daniel Hanson, ISW’s director.

The RDS 340 is fully servo driven, has a slitting accuracy of +/-0.2mm and it offers tension control on rewind and unwind. The machine can also die cut inline and also offers individual label count. It comes equipped with an ultrasonic web guide and ultrasonic roll diameter tracking.

“ROTOCON’s ECOLINE RDS 340 was the perfect choice for us given our purpose for purchasing it. We needed to shorten our turnaround times and it has done just that. The machine has provided value for money and filled the gap in the finishing department perfectly,” Daniel continues.

ISW approached ROTOCON with the above-mentioned specifications and also requested an upgrade of inline die cutting and the turret rewinding system.
